In the Nursery

February 4th, 2010

Today, I had the best possible morning I could ask for because I got to meet little baby Sterling, just one week old, and I got to be deliciously creative at the same time!  Baby Sterling is such a little man, with soft fuzzy hair and the sweetest button nose!  Because he is a close friends’ baby, I wanted to do something special for them, so today I put together my own home-made “nursery” scene; I had a wonderful time meeting the little mister, and he was the perfect baby model, even while sleeping deeply amidst the flowers 😉

His mommy and daddy are just deliriously happy about having Baby Sterling for a son, and I am so thoroughly delighted for them!  ♥  Thank you Bill and Hilary for bringing your gorgeous little boy to my home studio/ “nursery” today!  I’m looking forward to seeing how much Sterling has grown by the next time I see him! 🙂  Enjoy your “sneak peek”!

Babies Don’t Keep

January 31st, 2010

As a very young child, I clearly remember my mother rocking me to sleep;  this memory is probably one of the fondest memories I have, and it is so indicative of the way my mom raised me.  My mother firmly believed that the simple, fleeting moments in a child’s life would pass all too quickly, and that she should savor each moment during my childhood.  For that I am eternally grateful ♥

As my mom would agree, little ones are continually growing and blossoming into the grown-up people they will one day become.  With all of the time, hard-work and care parents bestow on their children, it’s no wonder the most marvelous memories of baby, like pudgy round fingers and soft baby skin, fade too easily with the passage of time.

Ginger

January 30th, 2010

Ginger has two darling little girls who absolutely adore her… And why wouldn’t they?!  Ginger is a stunningly beautiful, warm-hearted, and fabulous woman that any child would be so lucky to have as their momma.  Now with baby number three on the way, another child will!  Ginger is excitedly expecting her first boy!  I can only imagine what a loving  family Baby Brother will be entering, especially with two big sisters to help take care of him ♥

Ginger has such a wonderful and positive energy, she was a dream to photograph.  Some of my favorite photos from  her maternity session are of her wearing the kukui nut necklaces, which happened to be perfect because she is from Hawaii!  It was an absolute blast to meet you, Ginger, your girls and your sister at my home studio yesterday; I hope that you enjoy your session’s “sneak peek”! 🙂Ginger

Love Multiplied

January 24th, 2010

When eight day old Baby Charlize came for her newborn photo session, it was so wonderfully evident that her parents are absolutely enamored with their new little girl!  How beautiful it is that little Charlie has come into the world so deeply loved.  Not only is Charlie adored by her parents, but her mommy is one in a set of triplets (all girls) who were all pregnant at the same time (with all girls!) 😀 … Just think of all of the love (multiplied!) and fun (multiplied!) Baby Charlie will share with her aunties and cousins when she grows up! And all three daddies are going to have their hands full with a lot of gorgeous girls! 😉

Congratulations, Michael and Nicole, on your darling little beauty!   Thank you for allowing me the chance to capture such a special time in your lives!  I hope that you enjoy your “sneak peek” of Charlie’s first portraits!

Ryan

January 21st, 2010

While some babies begin their first couple of years with only a hair or two sprouting from their heads, Baby Ryan, just two months old, has a gorgeous head of soft brown curls!  His curls are probably the envy of many a bald baby girl 😉  However, regardless of his “baby-good-looks,” little Ryan couldn’t be any more sweet dispositioned; it’s no wonder his parents are smitten with him!  How proud his parents must be of their delightful new boy, just beginning a life of wonder, hope, and bundles of possibility!  I can predict already that he will probably grow up wanting to be just like his daddy, an Olympic gold medalist.  Thank you, Jason and Danielle, for coming all the way to San Diego for Ryan’s portraits!  It was wonderful to meet your beautiful family, and I hope that you enjoy your “sneak peek”! 🙂

Brand New

New

♥ a Brand New Year & a Sweet Special Offer ♥

Newborn babies have always been very special to me and I’ve taken care of babies all of my life. As a little girl, I was a “baby nerd,” reading everything I could get my hands on about babies, going over to neighbors’ houses to help them with their infants, babysitting non-stop, and then, as a young adult, working in a special-needs day-care, while I attended college. In recent years, I volunteered at Rady Children’s Hospital in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). Though I don’t have the time to volunteer now, I miss cuddling those tiniest and most innocent people of all.

There are so many unique things to photograph on a newborn baby. During the first two weeks of life, little newborns have peeling skin, wrinkles (!), are super sleepy, and fold into a little balled up shape ~ like in the womb. The portraits I take aim to capture that unique time because babies grow up so quickly and change so rapidly during the first few months.

Baby Alex (above) was just five pounds at the time of his Newborn Portrait Session.  I absolutely love this portrait of him so much because it looks as though he is giving himself an itty-bitty hug!  It’s the wee ones like him that fill me with so much joy; I feel so blessed to be able to capture this special time for their parents 🙂  … I want to give you the opportunity to share in this joy and welcome 2010 with a sweet special offer!  If you have been thinking of booking a studio session, this would be the perfect chance!  My books are open and starting to fill quickly, so here it goes:

Gavin

January 11th, 2010

This itty-bitty man was just a “twinkly little light” in my friend Summer’s eye when I met her, thirteen years ago!  😉  We were roommates way back when and became fast friends and then partners in crime (albeit innocuous ones, of course!).  I will cherish those days that we spent together forever, but I am equally as excited about our days to come, especially now that Summer’s family has just recently grown with the birth of her first son!  Baby Gavin is a very good eater who coos (in an impossibly cute grunty sort of way) and loves being all bundled up and cozy in his momma’s arms.  As his “auntie,” I got a lot of quality time cuddling with him and smelling his sweet baby scent yesterday 🙂  Thank you, Summer, Dave, and big sister, Madi, for sharing your precious little guy with me!  I hope you enjoy your “sneak peek” of Gavin’s portraits!

In Love with Olivia

January 4th, 2010

Even though Olivia is just ten days old, this was not the first time I photographed her.  You may remember her wonderful mommy on my blog about a month ago, when Baby Olivia was just a wee one in her momma’s belly, waiting to be born. Then, the day after Christmas, Olivia made her grand debut into the world.  As you can imagine, I was so excited to meet this little girl today, and photograph her for the “second” time!  Even though I was absolutely certain that she was going to be a beautiful baby, Olivia is just gorgeous, with lovely skin coloring, and the sweetest, most perfect little lips.   She was such a sweetheart for her session, and her mommy and daddy were complete naturals with her; how inspiring it is to see two people so in love with their little girl… and it’s easy to see exactly why they are! I fell in love with her, too 🙂  Anna and Joel, it was wonderful seeing you again… this time as parents! Congratulations, G family!  I hope you enjoy your “sneak peek”!

Oh Boy!

January 3rd, 2010

Kate and Jamie are expecting their first baby and are over the moon because, not only is the baby going to be a boy, he is going to be a Wolverine!  …well, a University of Michigan Wolverine fan, that is 😉  These two are an adorable couple who have a terrific sense of humor, and dutifully came prepared with the proper Wolverine “essentials” for any maternity photo session — a Wolverine bib and a Michigan onesie, of course!  Kate, you are a gorgeous mama-to-be, and both your and Jamie’s openness and willingness to have fun ensure that you will be wonderful parents!  I really enjoyed meeting you both yesterday, and I feel so honored to be a part of your new journey into parenthood.  Thank you!
